This winter tour highlights Muskoka's rugged landscapes transformed by snow and ice, combining scenic hikes, dramatic winter viewpoints, frozen water features, and a relaxed indoor break.
We begin at McCrae Lake Provincial Park, where a ~6 km winter hike leads us through quiet forests and across snow-covered granite toward the stunning Eagles Nest viewpoint. In winter, the open rock faces offer expansive views over frozen lakes and rolling, snow-blanketed terrain. Along the route, we'll also visit McCrae Lake Falls, where flowing water often freezes into layered ice and sculpted formations, creating a striking winter scene. Conditions permitting, we'll take our time to enjoy the viewpoints and the stillness of the forest.
After the hike, we'll warm up with a visit to Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery. This stop offers a cozy contrast to the outdoor adventure, with the chance to enjoy local wines, specialty products, and seasonal treats, while taking in the winter atmosphere of the farm.
Our final stop is Hardy Lake, featuring a ~5 km winter loop around a frozen lake and small island. Snow-covered trails, ice-edged shorelines, and open views across the frozen water create a calm and photogenic setting, perfect for a relaxed afternoon walk and winter photography.
This tour is designed to showcase winter tranquility, quiet trails, crisp air, frozen landscapes, and expansive views, offering a slower, more contemplative side of Muskoka.
