Our day includes a series of short to moderate hikes, with flexibility built in to adjust based on trail and weather conditions. We'll plan to begin with Eels Creek (~5 km, moderate), a peaceful forest-and-creek trail known for its boardwalks, clear water, and lush surroundings. If the trail is too muddy or waterlogged, which can happen in spring or after rain, we'll replace it with an alternate scenic viewpoint, ensuring you still enjoy beautiful landscapes and accessible terrain.
From there, we head to High Falls, one of the most dramatic waterfalls in the region. Tumbling 40 meters over ancient granite, it's an impressive and photogenic stop, with a viewing platform right at the base. Swimming is possible at the base of the falls for those who want to take the plunge.
Our next stop is Eagan Chutes Provincial Park, a hidden gem along the York River. Here, a short trail leads to a stunning series of cascades, chutes, and plunge pools, with options to wade, swim, or simply take in the scenery. The crystal-clear water and natural rock formations make this one of the most rewarding spots of the day.
We end the afternoon at Silent Lake Provincial Park, where a gentle ~5 km loop around a pristine wilderness lake provides the perfect wind-down. The calm, reflective waters, forested shoreline, and tranquil atmosphere make it an ideal spot for a final swim, some quiet time by the water, or a leisurely walk before heading back.
A full-day adventure with multiple short to moderate hikes. Flowing waterfalls, forest trails, river viewpoints, and calm lake scenery. Optional swimming opportunities at Silent Lake and selected waterfalls (weather and safety permitting). Flexible routing depending on trail conditions, Eels Creek may be replaced if too muddy. A mix of shaded forest paths, rocky riverbanks, and open waterfronts. A relaxed pace ideal for hikers, swimmers, and nature lovers seeking a warm-season escape.
