Experience the quiet magic of Ontario in winter on a scenic, multi-stop hiking adventure focused on frozen waterfalls, snow-dusted forests, and crisp northern landscapes.
Our day includes a series of short to moderate winter hikes, chosen based on conditions to ensure safety and enjoyment. We’ll aim to begin with Eels Creek (~5 km, moderate), a beautiful forest and creek-side hike that transforms into a snowy wilderness in winter. If trail conditions are too swampy or icy, we’ll substitute this hike with a scenic viewpoint elsewhere, still showcasing winter landscapes and forest views.
Next, we’ll visit Egan Chutes (~1 km, easy), where rushing water freezes into sculpted ice formations and snow-covered cascades — a perfect example of winter’s quiet power and one of the most photogenic stops of the day.
Our final main stop takes us into Algonquin’s High Falls on the York River (~4 km, moderate). Here, the frozen river and cascading ice create an impressive winter scene, surrounded by towering pines and a peaceful backcountry atmosphere.
If time and conditions allow, we’ll end the day with a relaxing stop at North Bay Beach on Paudash Lake, where the frozen shoreline and wide-open views offer a tranquil contrast to the forest trails and waterfalls. This tour celebrates winter beauty at its best — icy waterfalls, hushed woods, and the crisp air that makes every step feel refreshing and immersive.
A full-day winter outing with multiple short to moderate hikes. Snow-covered trails, frozen rivers, and dramatic icy waterfalls. Flexible routing depending on trail and weather conditions.
