Cancellation & Itinerary Change Policy
Your safety is our priority. Here's what you need to know.
At Human Nature Tours, we use a science-based approach to safety. We monitor Environment Canada forecasts and will cancel or modify tours if any of the following "No-Go" zones are reached:
⚡ THUNDERSTORMS
Any 40% (or higher) forecast of lightning or if active strikes are within 20km of the trail.
🌡️ SEVERE HEAT
We cancel if the Humidex reaches 40°C or higher. At this level, the risk of heatstroke during physical exertion is high.
Note: Between 35°C and 39°C Humidex, we may shorten the route or move to a more shaded trail.
❄️ EXTREME COLD
A "Real Feel" (wind chill) of -20°C or colder.
💨 HIGH WINDS
Sustained winds of 40 km/h or gusts of 60 km/h. This is to protect you from falling branches ("widowmakers").
🌫️ AIR QUALITY
An index (AQHI) of 7 or higher.
Our adventures are best shared! We require a minimum of 2 participants to run a tour.
If you are the only one booked 48 hours before the start, we may cancel.
Sometimes a park closes a trail last minute due to flooding or maintenance.
We reserve the right to change the destination to a nearby trail of similar difficulty and beauty.
If you can't make it, please let us know early:
7+ Days Notice
Full refund (minus a $10 admin fee).
2 to 7 Days Notice
50% refund or 100% credit for a future tour.
Under 48 Hours
No refund or credit.
For the safety of the group, our guides can refuse to take anyone who arrives without proper water (at least 2L for heat) or footwear (no flip-flops/heels). Safety first!
